In conventional cold rolling, the single-pass reduction typically ranges from 30% to 70%, depending on several factors:
• Alloy Type: Pure aluminum (e.g., 1xxx series) can tolerate higher deformation (up to 70%), while high-strength alloys (e.g., 7xxx series) require a reduction range of 30% to 50% to prevent cracking.
• Material State: Materials in an annealed state (O-state) can undergo higher deformation, whereas hardened materials (H-state) require reduced deformation to maintain integrity.
• Product Requirements: For thin plates (e.g., less than 0.5mm), multiple rolling passes are required with smaller reductions per pass. For thicker plates, a larger single reduction is possible.
In multi-pass rolling, the total deformation can accumulate to 80% to 90%, but this must be carefully controlled in stages to prevent defects.

• Rough Rolling: The reduction rate typically ranges from 40% to 60%, with the thickness reduced to 0.5–1 mm.
